Regional Trails

The towns of Avon and Edwards are located along Interstate 70 to the west of the ski resort of Vail in the Central Mountains of Colorado. These communities are located in the Eagle Valley along the Colorado River. Farther to the west are the communities of Eagle, Gypsum and Dotsero. Glenwood Canyon and Glenwood Springs are also along the I-70 corridor to the west of Edwards.

Dramatic cliffs and rugged hillsides form the sides of the Eagle Valley with views of the lofty peaks of the Gore Range and the Sawatch Range in the distance. The Colorado River provides a natural corridor of cottonwoods and willows with wetlands and abundant wildlife.

Directly to the south of the Town of Avon is the ski resort of Beaver Creek. this area has elegant homes dotting the hillside as well as restaurants and year round attractions.

There are a number of recreational trails for bike riding and walking within the towns of Avon and Edwards. The Eagle Valley Regional Trail passes through this area and there are paved pathways that run alongside many of the major roadways.

ECO Trails & Eagle Valley Regional Trail

ECO Trails is a partnership within Eagle County which oversees the multi-use recreational trail system through the Eagle River Valley. This partnership includes the towns of Gypsum, Eagle, Edwards, Avon, Vail, Red Cliff and Minturn. There are over 63 miles of multi-use trails within the system. These trails are open for bike riding, walking and running and provide a way to commute between the various towns as well as a recreational opportunity. The system of trail is referred to as the Eagle Valley Regional Trail.

The Eagle Valley Regional Trails are situated alongside State Highway 6 for the most part and exist in several separate sections. Cyclists will be required to use State Highway 6 to connect to the various developed paved pathways.
