Regional Trails

Grand Junction is located in Western Colorado along Interstate 70. The city is situated along the Colorado River and sits in the valley between the slopes of the Book Cliffs, the Grand Mesa and the Colorado National Monument. Fruita lies to the west of Grand Junction and is located near the north entry to the Colorado National Monument. Palisade is located to the east of Grand Junction

Colorado Riverfront Trail

Grand Junction has a recreational trail system along the banks of the Colorado River called the Colorado Riverfront Trail. The route of the trail has a section in Palisade, several sections that travel through Grand Junction and a section that goes down river to the town of Fruita.

The Colorado Riverfront Trail provides a place to enjoy some outdoor exercise away from streets and traffic. There are beautiful views of the dramatic cliffs of the Colorado National Monument, an abundiance of bird spiecies and other wildlife, cottonwood groves and ponds along the route. There are also a number of local parks along the trail with parking, restrooms and picnic facilities.
