San Miguel River Trail
The San Miguel River Trail is a 6.7-mile long unpaved and paved trail that travels from Highway 145, through the heart of Telluride and up into the valley to the east of town. The trail offers beautiful views of the valley and steep hillsides to each side. In town, the trail skirts the south side of town, going past the ski lifts and homes located along the river. On the east side of town, the trail goes past ponds, the Telluride Town Park with its athletic fields and pool, then heads through the aspen groves up the valley leading to the road to the base of Bridal Veil Falls.
The western portion of the trail, to the west of town, is wide and paved. The trail in town, and up into the higher elevations of the valley, is an unpaved foot path for much of its route. Most of the trail has gentle grades, but the east end of the trail has more of a climb.
