South Boulder Creek Trail
The U.S. 36 Bikeway is a 15-mile long paved pathway that follows alongside the Boulder Turnpike, U.S. 36, from the south end of Boulder to Westminster in Central Colorado. The trail connects to other local trails along the way as well as allowing connections to many other major roadways. The route goes past Superior, the Flatiron Crossing shopping complex and the Interlocken office complex.
The bikeway provides a safer route for people commuting by bike and has underpasses or overpasses along the way for crossing the Boulder Turnpike. There are nice views of the Flat Irons and there are also other local parks along the way.
Some sections of the U.S. 36 Bikeway are still in the planning stages or under construction. Verify conditions with the CDOT website.
The U.S. 36 Bikeway is is paved for the entire route. There are some street crossings, but a number of underpasses or overpasses for crossing the major roadways.

The U.S. 36 Bikeway allows for connections to several other regional and local recreational trails along its route.
Foothills Parkway Multi-Use Path: this pathway can be reached via the north end of the U.S. 36 Bikeway by using the pedestrian bridge over the Boulder Turnpike and the north end of the bikeway in Boulder.
South Boulder Creek Trail: this trail crosses the U.S. 36 Bikeway at 0.8 miles south of the Table Mesa Drive intersection with the Boulder Turnpike, just south of Boulder.
Coal Creek Trail: this trail crosses the U.S. 36 Bikeway just south of the McCaslin Boulevard interchange in Superior.
Rock Creek Trail: this trail ends at Brainard Drive just east of the U.S. 36 Bikeway near Midway Boulevard and across the Boulder Turnpike from Flatirons Crossing.
Big Dry Creek Trail: this trail crosses the U.S. 36 Bikeway just south of Church Ranch Boulevard in Westminster.
Farmers Highline Canal Trail: this trail crosses the U.S. 36 Bikeway near the Westminster Boulevard overpass in Westminster.
The north end of the U.S. 36 Bikeway is located at Table Mesa Drive and S. Loop Drive, just west of the interchange with U.S. 36, the Boulder Turnpike. A large pedestrian bridge allows access to the trail from the east side of the Boulder Turnpike.
The south end end of the bikeway is located at West 80th Avenue on the west side of U.S. 36 in Westminster. There is a short gap in the bikeway to the north where trail users need to travel along Turnpike Drive to get to the main section of the bikeway.
