Regional Trails

The Clear Creek Greenway is currently a system of separate pathways located in Clear Creek County to the west of the Denver Metropolitan Area. These pathways travel along Clear Creek Canyon near State Highway 6 and roughly adjacent to Interstate 70. The trail sections go past the following communities: Loveland Ski Area, Silver Plume, Georgetown, and Idaho Springs. There are several separate sections of developed trail with gaps in between, with future plans to create a continuous system of recreational trails.

The greenway itself is a developing concept by Clear Creek County Open Space Program. The concept is to have a continuous system of bike paths / walking paths that run alongside Clear Creek between Jefferson County and the Continental Divide, which will serve as a recreational opportunity for the residents and visitors to the area. The vision for the greenway is to serve as the backbone of the county and link the various communities with a collection of open spaces, parks and recreational facilities.

The sections of the Clear Creek Greenway that have been developed include:

Loveland Ski Area to Bakerville Exit: 4.9 miles

Silver Plume to Georgetown: 1.5 miles

Idaho Springs: 0.8 miles, 0.4 miles and 0.5 miles

Idaho Springs to Highway 6 interchage: 1.2 miles and 1.8 miles

Highway 6 near 119 (road to Central City): 2 miles

There are paved and unpaved sections of developed pathways constructed for the Clear Creek Greenway. The pathways are separated by long gaps in which trail users will need to use local roadways to reach the next section. The trails are open for bike riding and hiking.

The developed sections of the Clear Creek Greenway go past the following communities: Loveland Ski Area, Silver Plume, Georgetown and Idaho Springs.
